Rheumatoid arthritis

This information is primarily aimed at patients given a new
diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis. For further detailed
information the links page will direct you; I particularly
recommend the Arthritis Research Campaign (ARC) for their
patient publications.

When you are first diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, the
news that you have a potentially painful, long term disease for
which there is currently no cure can be devastating news, though
some patients are relieved to know what is wrong and be able to
move forward. One thing that I am sure of is that whilst the first
few weeks or months are challenging, nearly all patients get
through this difficult time and the majority respond to
treatment.

So you need to be prepared for things to be a bit tricky for a
while; I hope the questions and answers below are helpful in
understanding what is going on.
